E&S Casualty Regional Underwriting Manager
Zurich E&S is currently looking for a Regional Underwriting Manager for our E&S Casualty team. E&S Casualty is a new team that combines the Zurich E&S Excess Casualty team with the new Zurich E&S Primary Casualty team. This E&S Casualty Manager position will be responsible for developing, coaching, and managing a high-performing regional team of both Primary and Excess Casualty underwriting staff. Additional responsibilities include managing regional performance, including new business production, policy count retention, rate/tiering execution, and portfolio management actions relative to Plan; managing regional wholesale broker relationships; managing underwriter referrals; and maintaining a small production portfolio to stay attune with regional market changes and desk-level challenges.
The E&S Casualty Regional Manager position will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (25%). The position is a critical role in driving a diversified, dynamic and engaging team culture. This position also requires strong technical acumen in underwriting casualty risks in the E&S segment, experience in overseeing and developing underwriting talent, the ability to manage complex processes, strong wholesale producer engagement and sales skills and a demonstrated ability of profitable portfolio management.
This position will be based out of one of the following office locations: Dallas, Atlanta or Phoenix. You will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents.
AVP Level Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the claims or Under Support area.
OR - Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
AND - 2 or more years of management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in the E&S Primary Casualty space
- Wholesale broker relationships
- Strong planning and execution experience
- Strong team building and organizational skills
- CPCU
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent skills in relationship building
- Strong presentation skills
- Strong knowledge of forms language and coverage intent
- Results oriented

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $172,000.00 - $222,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%.
