Software Development Resource Manager

This Software Development Resource Manager will manage resources within the software development team.  This person will work out of our Anoka, MN office in a hybrid schedule.

 

As a leader in our IT group, you will play a key role in our business by leading members of the development team with focus on growth priorities and existing systems. You will serve as a technical leader, and should be able to discuss new technologies, and new methods of achieving goals. You will also provide servant leadership to your team, removing roadblocks, coaching and mentoring as needed, facilitating collaboration with internal customers, and helping your team to succeed.

 

The ideal candidate should have a strong technical background and expertise in Agile software development, combined with effective leadership skills.

 

Accountabilities: 

 

  • Manage resources that consist of technical resources within software development teams.
  • Maintain tools and standards used in the software development process.
  • Serve as a resource for software development team members through the software development process.
  • Business travel, as required
  • Extended hours during peak periods/shift work/holiday work, as required
  • Act as a technical expert in specific process or product area, conducting process reviews and initiating change in order to contribute to continuous improvement of services to internal customers
  • Contribute to the delivery of assigned IT projects in own area of expertise, collaborating with IT colleagues from across the wider function to agree to an approach for project/program management.
  • Record and report core metrics, and ensure internal partners and vendors meet defined policies / SLAs on information management
  • Manage and coach a team of employees to set goals and achieve results, provide regular, actionable coaching and feedback to employees to review progress
  • Recruit and select employees to join team

  

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelors Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Management Information Systems area OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Management Information Systems area

  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • 5 years of hands-on experience working directly within engineering teams
  • 3+ years of experience in managing, mentoring, and leading high performing software engineering teams
  • Excellent software project management skills
  • Experience with automated testing tools
  • A deep understanding of the software development life-cycle, and a track record of shipping quality software on time
  • Creative thinker and problem solver
  • Understanding of the crop insurance industry
