UX Interaction Designer
RCIS provides insurance and superior services through leading agents to protect America’s farmers and ranchers. RCIS (Rural Community Insurance Services), a division of Zurich North America, is currently hiring an UX Interaction Designer to work out of our Anoka, MN office.
As an integral part of the software development team at RCIS, the UX Designer will contribute to the overall usability strategy within our product development roadmap. This strategy is comprised of delivering the vision, experience, and standards for information architecture and user experience.
The UX Interaction Designer fulfills key business objectives by designing effective and efficient digital user experiences through wireframes, interaction models and UI specifications. The UX Interaction Designer will also partner with cross-functional Agile software teams to establish and deliver on customer requirements as they pertain to the creation of new or existing product digital experiences. Working closely with product and program managers, business representatives and customers, the UX interaction Designer defines and ensures UX strategy and design guidelines are incorporated into requirements that specify how products are expected to operate and behave in order to achieve the expected user experience. This extends to ensuring plans incorporate user testing and validation of the documented experiences.
Responsibilities will include:
- Facilitating the client’s product vision by researching conceiving, sketching, prototyping, and user-testing experiences for digital products.
- Taking a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.
- Translating designs into site maps, user flows, wireframes, journey maps, mockups and prototypes leading to intuitive user experiences for a wide range of device types and interfaces
- Identifying design problems and devise solutions.
- Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
- Collaborating with other team members and stakeholders.
- Asking smart questions, taking risks, and championing new ideas and UX/UI design standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area OR
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Application Design and Development area
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human factors, visual communications, graphic design, web design or other IT or marketing-related disciplines, or five or more years of UX design experience required with a portfolio demonstrating user experience and visual design work.
- Expertise in standard UX software such as Axure or other design software is a must.
- Basic HTML5 and CSS3 skills are needed; JavaScript skills considered a plus.
- A self-directed, creative individual able to effectively articulate and present innovative user experience solutions with solid leadership skills.
- Extensive experience in using UX design best practices to design solutions, and a deep understanding of mobile-first and responsive design.
- Experience in designing workflows, information architecture, storyboards, wireframes, mockups, design specs and guidelines.
- Knowledge of web standards and accessibility guidelines.
- A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), planning and conducting user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability, and accessibility concerns.
- Ability to work with clients to understand detailed requirements and design complete user experiences that meet client needs and vision.
- Ability to iterate designs and solutions quickly, efficiently, and intelligently.
- Ability to communicate design processes, ideas, and solutions clearly and effectively to teams, management, and clients.
- Be open to receiving feedback and constructive criticism.
- Be passionate about all things UX and other areas of design and innovation and resolving user pain points through great design.
- Research and showcase knowledge in the industry’s latest trends and technologies.
At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $89,775.00 to $147,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
