Claims Handler Marine

At Zurich, our Claims team plays a vital role in delivering excellent service to our clients. We are now looking for a Claims Handler to focus on our Marine claims. In this position, you’ll focus primarily on handling Marine claims always with a commitment to customer satisfaction. The claims you focus are inland Hull, seagoing Hull, Cargo, CMR, VER, and so forth. Your work will involve close engagement with stakeholders, gathering evidence, and making accurate claim assessments, all while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and identifying opportunities for recovery or fraud prevention.

 

This is a fulltime hybrid role where you will be working from our office in Antwerp as well as having presence in our office in Zaventem, Belgium.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations to support prompt and well-informed liability decisions, leveraging fact-finding and evidence collection to uphold integrity and service standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee the entire claims process from initiation to resolution, including administrative tasks, documentation management, and the integration of external expertise when necessary.
  • Accurately record new claim reports and all relevant details, maintaining precise and up-to-date documentation for each case.
  • Manage the claim journey by setting clear expectations, providing transparent communication, and guiding clients and partners through each stage of the process.
  • Apply legal and technical knowledge to assess claims fairly, identify potential recovery opportunities, and implement fraud prevention measures as appropriate.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum a bachelor’s degree, a law or insurance background is preferable
  • At least 2-3 (or more) years of experience working with Marine claims
  • Good technical knowledge along the claims handling core processes
  • Excellent knowledge of Dutch and English (written, spoken) are required, knowledge of French is an asset.
