Who Are We?

You are reading about Zurich Insurance Group, a global leader in insurance. This position is based in our Technology Delivery Center (TDC) in Barcelona, established in 2006 as an integral part of the Group.

At the TDC, technology meets the reach of a global company. We deliver solutions and support in areas including software development, data and analytics, cybersecurity and IT infrastructure. Our mission is to help Zurich achieve its strategic goals and improve operational efficiency through technology.

What Can You Expect?

As a Big Data Developer Intern, you will have the opportunity to:

• Develop data applications using Spark with Scala or Python.
• Create unit and integration tests to support reliable, high-quality applications.
• Monitor and support applications running on the data ingestion platform.
• Maintain clear and up-to-date technical documentation.
• Work alongside experienced colleagues in an international technology environment.
• Build practical experience in big data development while contributing ideas to the team.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We are not looking for perfection. If you meet most of the following points and are motivated to learn, we would be happy to hear from you:

• Active student status with a Spanish university or educational institution is mandatory.
• Interest in developing a career in technology, data or software engineering.
• Availability for a part-time internship of at least 6 months.
• Curious, enthusiastic and eager to learn.
• Tech-savvy, responsible and comfortable taking initiative.
• A collaborative team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
• Ability to communicate in English with international colleagues and managers on a daily basis.
• Experience or academic knowledge of Scala and SQL.
• Knowledge of Spark and/or Python is highly valued.
• Knowledge of Azure or AWS is desirable.
