 What Can You Expect?

Commercial Insurance Operations seeks a Business Engineer to help drive alignment of our business capability needs with our application and project portfolio. This role presents an excellent opportunity to drive transformation as Commercial Insurance (CI) evolves it’s operating model, delivering tangible value for our market-facing teams and developing a career within IT & Operations.

In this exciting role you will be part of the global Business Architecture team and be embedded in several change initiatives centred around our core underwriting function.You will collaborate with local and global business and architecture teams, analysts, and subject-matter experts to support the implementation of new capabilities from Zurich Group’s strategy and CI IT Playbook. You will carry the vision set by the executive into fit and sustainable solutions across CI by leveraging close working relationships with the countries. 

The CI Operations team is distributed across the UK, Zurich and Spain, with our businesses located in 25 countries across the globe

 As a Business Engineer you will have the opportunity to:

• Help define and evolve the target business architecture across CI initiatives, ensuring it supports long-term business strategy and transformation goals
• Work with CI business units around the globe to create target state processes and operating models using CAPDAN principles, aligned with CI strategic initiatives
• Collaborate closely with CI IT to align technology implementations to target state models
• Help drive business architecture governance, proactively shaping the strategic initiative agenda
• Translate complex business needs into visionary, scalable, and secure solutions that anticipate future demands
• Develop and maintain reference architectures for the business domains (process, capabilities) 
• Guide project teams on ensuring implementations align with architectural principles & blueprints and that we drive consistency across the enterprise
• Build and support business architecture artefacts as living assets that support decision-making, governance, and transformation
• Scout emerging concepts and assess their strategic relevance, championing innovation and future-readiness across CI
• Work alongside experts in various technological domains.

What Makes You a great Fit?

 As a Business Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include: 

• 4+ years experience in a Senior Business Analyst or Business Architecture role or equivalent period in a Business Transformation or project role
• Relevant university degree or higher education qualifications
• Proficiency in architecture frameworks (e.g. BPMN)
• Strong skills in process management & business analysis
• Good understanding of project management and technology
• Proven knowledge and experience in the insurance industry, preferably within commercial insurance underwriting
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Excellent communication and strategic thinking abilities
