Location:  Birmingham/Hybrid with 5% travel

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team, based in the Colmore Building, Birmingham. 
  
We are looking for an Assistant Underwriter to join a team of Underwriters and Senior Underwriters, where you will be given the training and development to succeed. You will be responsible for providing support to the Underwriters, contributing to the achievement of the overall strategic plan. As the Assistant Underwriter, you will provide support and underwriting expertise and services to brokers and customers.

What will you be doing? 
 
•    As the Assistant Underwriter, some of your responsibilities will include: 
•    Support delivery and enhance productivity of general underwriting operations 
•    Build relationships with brokers and customers 
•    Maintain agreed input to management reports and provides updates as required. 
•    Processing policies, endorsements and liaise with Underwriting support teams. 
•    Reducing rework & creating efficiencies where possible. 
•    Promptly handle and positively resolve enquiries from brokers, customers and colleagues. 
•    Meet agreed performance measures: including high quality and timely data input to systems. 
•    Achieve targets to maintain productivity, quality and service standards. 
•    Ensure that accurate records are maintained and the prompt production of quality documentation, in accordance with guidelines. 
•    Assist and support co-workers who maintain relationships with customers

•    Strong interpersonal skills regarding internal and external interaction. 
•    Have a proactive approach. 
•    Make suggestions to improve procedures.

•    Take action to manage own personal development. 
•    Effective numerical, verbal and written communication skills. 
•    It would be great if you had Engineering experience but don't worry if you don't as we will be able to support you.
