The opportunity

As the Head of Exposure Management, you'll be managing a team of 5 Leading the UK approach to exposure management across all lines of business enabling the UK branch to understand exposures and proactively manage them within our risk appetite.

 

This role would be ideal for someone with a background in exposure management with experience of leading a team and driving through change.

What will you be doing?

 

  • Leading the UK approach to exposure management across all lines of business enabling the UK branch to understand exposures and proactively manage them within our risk appetite.
  • Provide data analysis insight/direction to all MFU’s on exposure management. Proactive approach to provide granular reporting to the MFU’s in the UK on hotspot areas and opportunities.
  • Proactively engaging with Group on tools available to manage exposures from a UK perspective and any issues. Create/manage tools locally with the data analysts to manage the UK exposures.
  • Leads proactive collaboration across MFU’s, actively working together to improve data quality, providing/facilitating any training & support needed.
  • Leads RDS processes and the development of scenarios to ensure that potential Zurich exposures to systemic risks are understood. Proactive sharing of insights and collaboration on underwriting action to allow us to remain in Risk Appetite.
  • Key contact owner for Exposure Management tools internally & externally.
  • Proactive engagement with the market on exposure management including attendance at events, on forums and being the key representative for Zurich.
  • Manage a team of exposure management consultants and data analysts to maximize underwriting data quality, support the MFUs and achieve business goals in relation to exposure management.
  • Leads proactive review of upcoming weather events and other external events across all lines of business to help identify potential Zurich exposures and aggregation linking into the business to communicate appropriately.
  • Leads proactive management, assurance and ownership of exposure data quality to ensure that the underwriting business operates in accordance with established rules and frameworks and is maintained to agreed standards.
  • Leads identification, monitoring and continual improvement activity on exposure management activity across all MFU’s. Making recommendation for change/remedial action. Areas for improvement are identified and driven through with actions tracked and monitored through to resolution, demonstrating opportunities are maximized with respect to embedding best practice.
  • Ensures business compliance with regulatory compliance e.g. ELTO
  • Lead, Plan and carry out regular exposure management quality reviews in order to identify, assess and take action to mitigate risks.
  • Lead the use of data, local knowledge and expertise to provide liaison between market facing and claims to ensure an effective and efficient relationship on exposure management reporting which enhances customer service.

 

 What are we looking for?

 

  • Strong leadership skills and stakeholder management. This role will be dealing with various stakeholders across the business internally but also externally.
  • People manager experience.
  • Ability to adapt quickly in situations.
  • Proactivty in driving change.
  • Experience in exposure management or cat modelling would be preferrable.
