Underwriting Account Service Associate OR Underwriting Account Service Analyst

Zurich North America is currently hiring an Underwriting Account Service Analyst to join our Life Sciences Underwriting team! The role can be based at one of the primary office east coast locations: Boston, New York City, or Philadelphia and the position will provide you the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you and our Life Sciences team members.

As an Underwriting Account Service Analyst, you will support and work closely with experienced Underwriters in the review and analysis of risks in Middle Markets Life Sciences. The role will be filled at the Underwriting Account Service Associate or Underwriting Account Service Analyst level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

 

In this role you will be responsible for:

 

  • Reviews, evaluates, and analyzes risk exposures, controls, loss history, financial condition and recommends or executes, underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination within established risk appetite
  • Anticipates underwriting exposure information needs, and proactively seeks out alternative, relevant data sources using underwriting tools to improve understanding of risks
  • Analyze and recommends input in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages and exclusions, mandatory forms, etc. that are needed to accurately quote and/or renew policies (bonds)
  • Develops and executes account servicing solutions independently and in collaboration with Underwriter, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for more complex business accounts
  • Drives broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions and on-site calls related to account servicing matters with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Builds strong working relationship outside the team and with broker counterparts
  • Develops new team members and provides support and coaching to peers, based on quality results.
  • Provides coaching and problem solving for complex transactions/issues while educating peers on the context behind the solution
  • Complete monthly peer reviews
  • Provide training on important updates and new processes
  • Act as a line of business subject matter expert
  • In charge of report generation
  • Supports special projects as assigned

 

 Underwriting Account Service Associate Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
    AND
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis
  • Microsoft Office experience

 

OR

 

Underwriting Account Service Analyst Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, or Market Facing area
    OR
  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, or Market Facing area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, Finance, Accounting, or Banking area
    AND
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Experience with processing, rating, and policy management systems used in the insurance industry
  • Customer service experience
  • Problem solving experience
  • Experience servicing product portfolios for multiple lines of business for insurance
  • Microsoft Office experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Knowledge of underwriting philosophy and techniques
  • Knowledge of national and local insurance filing regulations and guidelines
  • Knowledge of international insurance programs

 

 

At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. 

The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $48,609.00 - $87,500.00. The proposed hourly rate for the Underwriting Account Service Associate is $23.37 - $38.22, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 5%. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Account Service Analyst is $53,400.00 - $87,500.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
