Junior Data Scientist – Applied AI/ML
We are strengthening our capability to bring data science AI/ML solutions into production faster and with higher quality. This role bridges the gap between data science and AI/ML Ops by taking prototypes and turning them into more production-ready solutions.
This is a data science role with emphasis on full stack AI/ML modeling and production best practices. The role is suitable for graduates and juniors interested in both data science and data/software engineering. You will be onboarded in both areas after joining the team.
Your role
As an Junior Data Scientist, your main responsibilities will involve:
- AI/ML model development to help solve business problems
- Turn data science prototypes (code, data) into production-ready Databricks assets
- Design and implement robust data and AI/ML pipelines by working with MLOps/IT teams
- Collaborate on packaging and deploying models into production-grade workflows
- Implement pragmatic code testing and data checks
- Apply AI/MLOps practices (model logging, versioning, monitoring and deployment) in model development and deployment
- Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable and maintainable
- Co-manage Databricks workflows and asset bundles
- Collaborate with both data scientists and engineers to prepare production-ready solutions
Your Skills and Experience
As an Junior Data Scientist, your skills and experience will ideally include:
- Experience with AI/ML model developments
- Experience with data science and interest in data/software engineering OR
- Experience with data/software engineering and interest in data science
- Solid hands-on skills in Python and SQL
- Experience with version control and CI/CD
- Exposure to Spark or other distributed computing systems
- Basic understanding of data modelling, performance optimization and data quality
Nice to have
- Experience with Databricks, Delta Lake or MLflow
- Experience with Azure ecosystem (ADF, Storage, etc.)
- Experience with APIs or real-time data solutions
- Experience with agentic AI orchestration (LangGraph, Langchain etc.)
- Background in insurance or regulated environments
We offer
Compensation for roles at Zurich depends on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific role, skill set, level of experience, and subject to applicable law. Zurich thus provides a range of compensation aligned to internal job architecture and market benchmarks to ensure fair and consistent pay for comparable roles. The starting base salary range for this position is 1930 Eur.
