Senior Python Developer – Commercial Insurance IT (100%) #LI-Hybrid
Commercial Insurance IT seeks a Senior Python Developer to join our internal Commercial Insurance ‘Group Pricing & Specialist Underwriting Tools’ team.
You will be part of a dynamic team implementing a state-of-the-art open-source Python product as a ‘Global Rating Engine’ where actuarial pricing models and rate tables will be coded in Python enabling multiple underwriter workbenches to integrate with to provide pricing of policies.
You will collaborate in an international team with other developers and architects along with business analysts, testers, and business stakeholders to support the implementation of multiple pricing models for different business and market segments in Commercial Insurance.

Your role
As a Senior Python Developer your main responsibilities will involve:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust Python ‘rating engines’ for multiple segments of business across Commercial insurance
- Propose best practices for Python coding
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code, with a focus on maintainability and scalability
- Mentor junior developers and share knowledge within the team
- Drive automation, CI/CD, and DevOps practices in Python projects
- Identify commonalities across calculation models and support effective re-use of modules
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Python frameworks, tools, and trends
- Within the project development team suggest and share ideas, align with other developers, document methods of coding for specific topics to ensure transparency
- Participate in ongoing unit testing and subsequent UAT (user acceptance testing) ensuring bugs are identified and correctly fixed within the project framework
Your Skills and Experience
As a Senior Python Developer, your skills and experience will ideally include:
- Deep expertise in Python (minimum 5 years), including frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI
- Strong experience with RESTful API development and integration
- Solid understanding of software design principles, OOP, and patterns
- Proven track record in cloud platforms (specifically Azure)
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
- Proficient with source control (Git), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field
- Working proficiency in English
We offer
In accordance with the EU Pay Transparency Directive, the minimum gross annual compensation for this position, determined based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, is 3 000 EUR/gross. The final compensation package will depend on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.
