As a Medical Officer supporting Australian Retirement Trust (ART), you will play a critical role in shaping fair, accurate, and evidence based outcomes across our Group Life ART portfolio. Sitting within Health Services, this role provides trusted medical insight that supports claims and underwriting decisions, strengthens product definitions, and improves the experience for members and employers.

 

You’ll bring contemporary clinical knowledge into the heart of our decision making, partnering closely with claims, underwriting, and broader stakeholders. Your impact will be felt through better health outcomes, stronger governance, and meaningful contributions to Zurich’s ambition to lead through innovation and care.

 

You will also be responsible for the following:

 

  • Providing expert medical opinion to support mortality and morbidity assessments across underwriting and claims.
  • Engaging with external treating medical professionals to inform fair and evidence based decisions.
  • Delivering medical education and insights to build capability across internal stakeholders.
  • Reviewing and contributing to the development of medical definitions within life insurance products.
  • Supporting health thought leadership through insights, newsletters, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contributing to health initiatives and the identification of emerging health technologies.

You’re a trusted medical professional who values collaboration, clear communication, and balanced decision making. You work comfortably with diverse stakeholders, bring curiosity to complex problems, and care deeply about delivering outcomes that are clinically sound and human centred.

 

In order to be successful, you will have the following:

 

  • Medical qualifications with strong clinical expertise.
  • Experience providing medical opinion within life insurance or the health sector.
  • Understanding of mortality and morbidity impacts on life risk products.
  • Experience engaging with treating and academic medical professionals.
  • Ability to translate complex medical information into clear, practical insights.
  • A data informed and evidence based approach to decision making
