E&S Property Underwriting Manager II/III

Zurich is currently looking to hire an E&S Property Underwriting Manager II/III to support a production underwriting team! We are looking for talent to be based out of Chicago, Atlanta, or New York. This leadership role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office on a regular basis to meet with your team.

In this role you will manage a team of skilled Property Underwriters. You will be expected to travel as necessary to support the needs of the team and to cultivate relationships with national wholesalers to drive growth with a focus on profitability. This is a critical role in driving an engaging team culture. This role requires a strong technical, staff development and sales execution mindset. This role requires 25% of Travel.

This role will be filled at either the E&S Property Underwriting Manager II or III Level.  The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

E&S Property Underwriting Manager II:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
  OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
  OR

• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
  AND

• 2 or more years of management experience

OR

E&S Property Underwriting Manager III:

• Bachelors Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Underwriting, Market Facing, Broker, Carrier or Risk Management area within the Commercial Insurance industry
  OR

• Bachelors Degree with 20 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support area within the Commercial Insurance industry
  OR

• ***Only current employees at reward level 7 and above may apply with a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience***    
  AND

• Experience in Experience in a specialized line of business or segment

• 2 or more years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• Advanced knowledge of E&S Property

• At least 10 years of property underwriting experience

• Ability to manage and build rapport with team

• Excellent organizational, written, oral communication and presentation skills

• Advanced knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory guidelines

• Experience managing an E&S property team

• Established Producer relationships

• Advanced skills in relationship building, active listening, needs analysis, and win-win negotiating

• Strong presentation skills and a solutions and service orientation

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The combined salary range for this position is $130,000.00 - $324,000.00. The proposed salary range for the E&S Property Underwriting Manager II is $130,000.00 - $213,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%. The proposed salary range for the E&S Property Underwriting Manager III is E&S Property Underwriting Manager III is $197,800.00 - $324,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 25%.
