Underwriting Analyst - Occupational Accident
Zurich Insurance is currently looking for an Underwriting Analyst for our Occupational Accident division with our Life, Accident & Health business unit. This position can be located at either our Chicago or Schaumburg, IL office. While this position will be based out of our Chicago or Schaumburg office, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. This will require you to be in the office three days per week. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. The Underwriting Analyst will work with a suite of products within Occupational Accident Market Basket.
This is a technical, and market facing position. Experience with Occupational Accident, Auto Physical Damage, Non-Trucking Liability, and Workers Comp lines of business is preferred, but not required. As a member of Zurich’s A&H Underwriting Analyst Team, you will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your servicing, underwriting skills with opportunities for marketing. Specifically, you will learn to underwrite and analyze new and renewal Occupational Accident business utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels.
Our Underwriting Analyst is responsible for:
- Generating, underwriting and analyzing a suite of Occupational Accident products
- Account servicing, and production activities within the A&H Division
- Complying with underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations and rating manual rules
- Working with Senior Underwriting to develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
- Working within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area.
OR - High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area
AND - Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 1 or more years’ experience in the underwriting area
- Strong negotiation skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Microsoft Office skills

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The compensation indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $95,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
