Zurich Capability Center is currently hiring a:
ETL Developer / Lead
We are looking for a Senior ETL Developer / Lead with extensive experience in Informatica PowerCenter to join our data engineering team. In this role, you will not only build, optimize, and integrate robust data pipelines but also guide technical decisions and mentor junior team members, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and reliable data for BI and analytics initiatives. You will collaborate closely with data architects, analysts, and DevOps teams to drive best practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of ETL workflows using Informatica PowerCenter for data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
- Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, including CTEs, joins, and window functions, ensuring optimal performance.
- Integrate data from multiple sources: relational databases, APIs, flat files, and cloud-based systems.
- Provide technical leadership in ETL design and implementation, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards.
- Mentor and support junior ETL developers, reviewing code, providing guidance, and promoting skill development.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve ETL jobs to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Apply data governance practices and ensure data quality, implementing logging and error handling.
- Collaborate with business and technical teams to translate requirements into robust ETL solutions.
- Document data flows and maintain data warehouse standards (star/snowflake schema, SCDs, surrogate keys).
- Participate in strategic planning for data architecture, pipeline design, and performance optimization.
Technical Requirements
- ETL Tools: Informatica PowerCenter (mandatory); experience with Talend or SSIS is a plus.
- Advanced SQL: CTEs, joins, window functions, and performance tuning.
- Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.
- Cloud Data Platforms: Azure Data Factory, Databricks.
- Version Control & DevOps: Git, CI/CD, Agile methodologies.
- Data Warehousing: Schema design, SCD management, surrogate keys.
- Experience with data quality frameworks, logging, and error handling.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with experience guiding technical teams.
Nice to Have
- Programming in Python or Scala for data processing.
- Experience with orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow.
- Knowledge of Big Data technologies: Spark, Hive, HDFS.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes and cloud deployment.
- Familiarity with data cataloging and lineage tools (Collibra, Alation).
- Advanced English (C1) for technical communication, documentation, and leadership discussions.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7+ years of ETL experience, with Informatica PowerCenter as the primary tool.
- Proven experience designing and optimizing data pipelines at scale.
- Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to work in hybrid on-premise and cloud environments.
- Strong focus on data quality, governance, and documentation.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies.
