SAP ABAP Developer

Experience: 5+ Years 
Domain: Insurance 
Location: México City or Guadalajara hybrid  

 

Job Summary 

We are seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience, preferably within the Insurance domain, to design, develop, and support SAP applications. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in ABAP development and a solid understanding of insurance business processes, contributing to high-quality, scalable SAP solutions. 

Forma Key Responsibilities 

  • Design, develop, and enhance SAP ABAP programs including Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, and Forms (RICEF)
  • Develop and maintain ABAP Objects, ALV Reports, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, and Adobe Forms
  • Work closely with functional consultants to translate insurance business requirements into technical solutions
  • Support and enhance SAP modules relevant to insurance processes (e.g., FS-CD, FS-PM, FI, SD, or custom insurance solutions)
  • Develop and support interfaces using IDocs, BAPIs, RFCs, and web services
  • Perform code reviews, debugging, performance tuning, and optimization
  • Follow SAP best practices and ensure compliance with development standards
  • Provide production support and resolve incidents related to ABAP developments
  • Participate in system upgrades, enhancements, and integration projects Forma

Required Skills & Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of SAP ABAP development experience 

Strong expertise in:  

  • ABAP/4, ABAP Objects
  • Enhancements (User Exits, BADIs, Enhancement Framework)
  • Data Dictionary (DDIC)
  • SAP Forms (Smart Forms, Adobe Forms)
  • Experience working in the Insurance domain (Life, P&C, Health, or Reinsurance preferredKnowledge of insurance business processes such as:  
  • Policy lifecycle
  • Premium processing
  • Claims management
  • Billing and collections
  • Experience with interfaces and integrations (IDoc, BAPI, RFC, Web Services)
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA and ABAP for HANA (AMDP, CDS views) is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills 

Forma Nice to Have 

  • Experience with SAP FSCM or Financial Services modules
  • Exposure to SAP Workflow and OData services
  • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies
  • SAP ABAP or S/4HANA certification

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability
