Junior Underwriter, Engineering Lines | Construction

Are you early in your career within insurance, construction underwriting, broking or engineering – and curious about how large construction projects are insured?

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Junior Underwriter to join our Engineering Lines and construction underwriting team in Denmark. This is a great opportunity to develop your underwriting skills in an international and business-driven environment, where you will learn from experienced colleagues and gradually build your expertise within Construction and Engineering risks.

Job Description

As a Junior Underwriter, you will support the underwriting of risks within Construction and Engineering Lines both separate project policies as well as annual frameworks, Annual open Covers. You will work closely with more experienced underwriters and gain hands-on experience across the full underwriting process.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Supporting the assessment and pricing of risks in line with underwriting guidelines
  • Assisting in the preparation of quotations, policy documentation and renewal offers
  • Maintaining and updating underwriting systems and documentation
  • Detailed risk assessment of construction related projects and Annual open covers for contractors and principals - We write what we know and know what we write 
  • Supporting account servicing and day-to-day underwriting activities
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders such as risk engineers, claims and underwriting service specialists
  • Servicing brokers and participating in broker and client interactions together with senior colleagues

You will gradually develop your technical underwriting capabilities and gain an understanding of how individual accounts contribute to the broader underwriting strategy.

Your profile

We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills and who is detailed oriented and has a genuine interest in risk and insurance, who is eager to learn and grow within underwriting.

  • Academic degree in engineering, economics, law, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Some experience or exposure to insurance, risk, finance or construction is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills in English and Danish
  • Structured, detail-oriented and proactive mindset
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team

Skills and competencies

  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Strong data processing skills and analytical skills
  • Preferably knowledge of risk analysis and selection, risk exposures and quality of risk, pricing principles for new and renewal business
  • Solid presentation skills and a proactive, service-oriented mindset
  • High level of risk- and business awareness

As a person, you are a team player and an analytical thinker. You are data driven and have a strong business and customer focus as well as interest in customer relationships and negotiation.

You are a fast learner, agile and flexible. You like working independently but with good abilities to co-operate with both customers, brokers, and colleagues.
