This is a full-time hybrid role where you will be working from our office in The Hague, Netherlands. Working part-time can be discussed.

 

Role Overview

As a Financial Accountant, you'll help ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain internal controls, and manage financial processes for our Benelux entities. Working in a fast-paced, regulated environment, you'll coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to uphold compliance and transparency. Your strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and adaptability will be essential in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement, ultimately supporting the company’s sustained growth and success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Close Management: Oversee and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and in line with company standards and deadlines.
  • Financial Data Validation: Review and validate journal entries to guarantee the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data in the ledgers.
  • Regulatory & Group Reporting: Prepare and submit both Group and local regulatory financial reports for our Benelux operations, complying with all relevant frameworks (e.g. IFRS, German GAAP, Solvency II, and Swiss Solvency Test).
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Ensure effective operation and documentation of internal controls in accordance with Zurich’s internal control framework; maintaining robust controls over financial reporting and solvency  and addressing any control deficiencies
  • Systems Oversight (SAP): Act as SAP key-user coordinator, overseeing subledger systems and coordinating testing or updates. Ensure that financial systems are properly maintained, system changes are thoroughly tested and integrated into accounting workflow.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Monitor and manage outstanding receivables, working with customers and internal teams to ensure timely collection of payments.

 

 

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in financial accounting. Experience in the financial services or insurance sector being a plus.
  • Minimum a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in finance, accounting, economics or a comparable field of study.
  • Solid grasp of international financial standards; IFRS expertise is advantageous.
  • Strong Excel skills; experience with SAP is required; familiarity with QlikSense and Power BI is valued.
  • Language skills: Dutch (upper‑intermediate / conversational) and English are required.
