Actuarial Trainee

We have an exciting opportunity for an Actuarial Trainee to join our dynamic actuarial team. This role offers a strong foundation across a range of core actuarial disciplines, including corporate centre reporting and regulatory reporting, while also providing exposure to areas such as business planning, product pricing, risk management and strategic projects.

You will receive comprehensive training and development support, helping you build both your actuarial expertise and commercial understanding. Working closely with experienced colleagues, you'll contribute to the delivery of accurate and insightful financial information for regulators, senior management, corporate stakeholders and other key audiences.

Key responsibilities:

• Produce accurate, timely and well-explained actuarial analyses and reporting outputs.
• Ensure data used in calculations is complete, accurate and of a high quality.
• Support the delivery of actuarial reporting, analysis and project work across the team.
• Communicate technical findings and calculations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through reports, presentations, meetings and written correspondence.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain and enhance actuarial processes, controls and documentation.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the development of more efficient ways of working.

About you:

We're looking for a motivated and analytical individual with a genuine interest in actuarial work and data-driven decision making.

You will ideally have:

• A strong degree (or equivalent qualification) in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related discipline.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Progress towards professional actuarial qualifications is desirable, although candidates at the start of their actuarial journey will also be considered.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience of Access or other data analysis tools considered advantageous.
• A keen interest in data analytics and turning data into meaningful insights.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely.
• A proactive, curious and self-motivated approach to learning and development.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• A mindset focused on continuous improvement, with the confidence to challenge existing processes and identify opportunities for enhancement.
