The opportunity

Are you a curious, creative and proactive Communications professional looking for a role where you can truly make an impact? As our Communications Manager, you’ll play a key role in driving organisational and cultural change across Zurich on the Isle of Man. You’ll help shape and deliver both internal and external communication plans that support our local strategy and align with our Corporate Life & Pensions and International Life Solutions business units.

 

This is a wonderfully varied role where no two days will be the same. You’ll lead local communications planning, create engaging content and communication assets, provide insight to support stakeholders, measure effectiveness, and work closely with colleagues, senior leaders and external agencies. You’ll report to the UK‑based Head of Communications while acting as the key point of contact for all communications activity on the Isle of Man.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver a local internal and external communications plan aligned to the wider communications strategy, with the support of the Head of Communications.
  • Support the Head of Communications and Global Communications teams in the ongoing development and execution of communications strategy across regions.
  • Partner with HR as a key advisor to support our people and culture strategy, ensuring effective communication of initiatives and maximising engagement.
  • Drive senior management engagement with employee communications and foster support for people‑focused initiatives.
  • Ensure all communication is engaging, timely, consistent and aligned to Zurich’s brand guidelines.
  • Plan, write and edit content for a range of internal channels, including intranet, Engage, video, newsletters and email updates.
  • Support internal events such as Townhalls and employee engagement sessions.
  • Create local communications drafts based on direction from the Senior Management Team and bring their vision to life.
  • Support local employee groups to ensure colleagues feel informed, involved and engaged.
  • Manage Zurich Isle of Man social media channels, including content creation, scheduling and monitoring in line with the agreed strategy and content calendar.
  • Gather insights and measure communications effectiveness, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Deliver and manage local PR and sponsorship activity with support from the Head of Communications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media and local stakeholders.

 

Your skills and experience:

  • Proven work experience in marketing or communications.
  • Strong relationship‑building skills with the confidence to engage effectively at all levels, including Senior Management.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills.
  • Clear and confident communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Self‑starter who is comfortable working independently, with your manager based in the UK.
  • Highly organised, able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Demonstrates integrity, credibility and discretion; able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry is an advantage, but a willingness to learn quickly is essential.
  • Experience using social media as a communications channel.
  • Strong commercial awareness with excellent interpersonal and journalistic skills.
  • Solid understanding of communication channels, tools and methodologies.
