If you are curious, creative, and enthusiastic this role could be for you.  As a Communications Assistant, you will help drive organisational and cultural change by assisting in the creation and implementation of an internal and external communications plan, aligning with the strategy of Zurich on the Isle of Man and its wider business unit, Zurich Integrated Benefits Solutions. Creating comms assets, measuring performance, and working with external agencies and partners will be a priority. You will report to the ZIBS Communications lead based in the UK and will also locally support the Senior Management Team and other key stakeholders and be the local point of contact in the Isle of Man for all communications activity.

 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Manager to create and implement an internal and external communications plan.
  • Support Marketing and Communications Manager with the continual development and implementation of the communications strategy across IOM and UK.
  • Ensure that communication messages are engaging, effective, timely and consistent, fit for purpose and adhere to all branding guidelines.
  • Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications channels, such as intranet, video, email bulletins or newsletters to support Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Create first drafts for local communications, taking direction from the local Senior Management team, and bringing to life their vision for review.
  • Support local employee groups to deliver effective communications to ensure employees feel informed, involved, and engaged.
  • Manage the Zurich Isle of Man social media channels including post creation, scheduling, and monitoring – in line with strategy and monthly content calendar agreed with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
  • Gather insights and measure the effectiveness of communication activities to identify gaps, facilitate continuous improvement, and demonstrate the value added by business communications.
  • Support Marketing and Communications Manager in the delivery and management of all local PR and sponsorship.
  • Nurture positive relationships with journalists and other press, Media, and local contacts.

 

Your skills and experience: 

  • Proven work experience in marketing or communications.
  • Excellent writing, editing and proof-reading skills essential.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels in both writing and speech.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work unsupervised given line manager is based in the UK.
  • Candidate must be highly organised and used to working on numerous projects and activities simultaneously with strict deadlines.
  • Confident in own ability and excellent relationship building skills - ability to engage and collaborate effectively at all levels including the Senior Management team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain personal integrity, credibility, and trust ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Good insurance industry knowledge and insight would be a benefit, but ability to learn and upskill knowledge quickly is essential.
  • Essential to have strong experience of using social media.
  • Strong commercial acumen and outstanding interpersonal and journalistic skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of communication channels and methodologies.
