Compliance Manager and MLRO
Location: Douglas, Isle of Man

The opportunity:
As MLRO, you’ll play a pivotal role in protecting our customers, business, and reputation from financial crime risks. You will ensure Zurich remains fully compliant with all legal and regulatory requirements relating to Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Proliferation Financing (PF) and sanctions.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage Zurich’s AML, CFT, PF and sanctions compliance framework.
- Act as the main point of contact for internal teams on AML, CFT, PF and sanctions matters.
- Act as the main point of contact and build positive relationship with relevant external bodies and agencies such as the FIU and Attorney Generals chambers
- Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders in the branches of the company as well as key regional and group stakeholders
- Monitor and review transactions to detect and report suspicious activities.
- Provide guidance and training to employees on financial crime prevention
- Maintain and update internal policies, ensuring they meet current legal requirements.
- Prepare regular reports and statistical returns for senior management, Boards and regulatory bodies.
- Lead investigations into suspected money laundering or terrorist financing and be accountable for the timely reporting externally as appropriate
- Maintain all registers as required in the AML code
- Be responsible for the sign off and approval of higher risk relationships including Politically Exposed Persons
- Promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and ethical conduct across the organization.
- Play a lead role in regulatory inspections and other interactions with focus on AML, CFT, PF and sanctions.
- Oversee the management of financial crime risks across the business, including overseas branches
- Support and where appropriate lead the delivery of Compliance and Business projects, providing expert advice and guidance.
- Lead, manage and develop a team of subject matter experts.
Your skills and experience:
- Previous extensive experience in financial crime prevention and compliance, ideally within insurance or financial services.
- Excellent working knowledge of relevant regulation, legislation, and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Outstanding communication skills—ability to explain complex topics clearly and to train others.
- High level of integrity and reliability.
- Relevant professional qualifications or certifications - ICA International Diploma in Financial Crime Prevention, ICA International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering, or equivalent.
- Experience with dealing with senior management, Board and relevant external agencies
- Commitment to continuous professional development
