Assistant Underwriter - Construction

Commercial Insurance Middle East is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our team as an Underwriting Assistant. In this role, the individual will provide crucial support to the Underwriting - Construction team.
Job Accountabilities
As Underwriting Assistant, your role will involve:
- Assist higher proficiency Underwriters in reviewing insurance applications and the assessment and pricing of low complexity risks and the setting of terms and conditions in accordance with the Underwriting Guidelines.
- Provide support with basic Underwriting tasks, including account servicing, the preparation of documentation and updating systems.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date underwriting records, including policy documentation, endorsements and related correspondence.
- Communicate with brokers and internal stakeholders to obtain missing information, clarify policy details, and address inquiries or concerns.
- Assist in the preparation of underwriting reports, summaries and presentations to support decision-making and provide insights on underwriting performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as Claims and Finance to ensure smooth and efficient underwriting processes.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, policy changes and market conditions that may impact underwriting decisions and processes.
Job Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field is preferred. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Knowledge of insurance principles, policies and industry practices is advantageous.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to review and evaluate complex information accurately and efficiently.
- Excellent attentation to detail, with a focus on data accuracy and quality assurance.
- Computer savvy and proficienct in MS Office Suite and other underwriting software
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionaly with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
