Senior Underwriter - Financial Lines

Commercial Insurance Middle East is looking for a Senior Underwriter - Financial Lines to join our team. This individual will independently analyze and underwrite business of medium to high complexity and must be well-regarded for their knowledge of the financial lines. They must utilize "The Zurich Way" of Underwriting Framework ensuring a high level of service to customers.
Job Accountabilities
As a Senior Underwriter - Financial Lines, your role will involve:
- Independently assess and price medium to high complexity risks, set and negotiate terms and conditions in accordance with the Underwriting Guidelines.
- Have a reasonable level of Underwriting Authority and will seek empowerment from higher proficiency level Underwriting Management where required with a detailed rationale.
- Have a strong understanding of how the accounts they work on fit into the broader Underwriting strategy.
- Posses strong relationships and engage with distributors (agents brokers) during the Underwriting process, leading discussions around risk appetite and proactively seeking new business opportunities.
- Anticipate customer needs and be able to handle and resolve the vast majority of queries from customers and brokers.
- Support with the development of other Underwriters.
- Should be proficient in Directors and Officers, Financial Institutions & Professional Indemnity.
- Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
- Negotiate solid terms & conditions and where appropriate cross-sell other lines of business to increase the book of business.
- Participate in Sales Team meeting as related to assigned brokers and / or territory.
- Proactively engage in the target account process, managing a qualified list of opportunities 90 to 120 days prior to effective date.
- Serve as the subject matter expert and act as the key contact for assigned target accounts.
- Measure exposure/analyze risk, initiate product development ideas and promote services to increase penetration.
- Provide expertise on coverage issues with claims programs and guidelines.
Job Qualifications
To be successful in the role, you will need:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) to 10+ years of experience in related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of financial lines, legal and regulatory guidelines.
- Strong negotiation and presentation skills.
- Deep understanding of underwriting principles, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
