Commercial Insurance Middle East is looking for a seasoned Senior Underwriter - Property to join our Underwriting Team and play a key role in assessing businesses of high complexity and is well-regarded for their knowledge of (a) line(s) of business or product line.

Job Summary

As Senior Underwriter - Property, your main responsibilities will involve:

• Working under minimal direction, underwrite and analyze new and renewal business submissions within delegated authority levels of highly complex assignments.
• Demonstrate strong renewal retention and new business contribution
• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals.
• Work at the highest authority limits on assignments utilizing the highest degree of technical complexity and coordination.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) in support of business retention,loss prevention requirements and follow ups.
• Leading discussions around risk appetite and proactively seeking renewal and new business opportunities. 
• Contribute to the development of propositions.
• Anticipate customer needs and be able to handle and resolve the vast majority of queries from customers/brokers.
• Negotiate Terms & Conditions and close deals.
• Calculate Target Price accurately by utilizing underwriting tools appropriately.
• Drive/manage how Business Unit will deal with emerging issues.
• Provide expertise on coverage issues with claims.
• Benchmark and establish best practices.

Job Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent + professional qualification would be an advantage
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area
• Advanced knowledge and practice of line/s of business
• Strong knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines
• Strong analytical and system skills (Microsoft Office tools, etc.)
• Ability to effectively assess risk and interpret risk survey reports
• Ability to work in a team-based environment
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
