Commercial Insurance Middle East is looking for a Underwriter - Marine to join and support our Middle East Team. This individual will analyze and underwrite new and renewal business, utilizing The Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework ensuring a high level of service to customers.
Job Accountabilities
As Underwriter - Onshore Energy, your role will involve:
- Independently assess and price medium complexity risks, set and negotiate terms and conditions in accordance with the Underwriting Guidelines and close deals.
- Will have a moderate level of Underwriting Authority and will seek empowerment from higher proficiency level Case Underwriters where required with a good rationale.
- Will perform other Underwriting tasks, including account servicing, the preparation of documentation and updating systems.
- Will have a good understanding of how the accounts they work on fit into the broader Underwriting strategy.
- Will be required to have frequent engagement with distributors (brokers) during the Underwriting process and will proactively seek new business opportunities.
- Will anticipate customer needs and be able to handle and resolve a range of queries from customers or brokers.
Job Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of experience in Underwriting with exposure to Energy lines of business, particularly Onshore.
- Must have developed and have an existing network of Brokers in the Middle East and surrounding International Markets.
- Must have a good understanding of Treaty Reinsurance Protection and Facultative Reinsurance.
- Knowledge of underwriting guideines, philosophy, techniques, and national/local filing regulations
- Ability to effectively assess risk, risk insights
- Ability to work in a team-based environment
- Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
- Excellent communication, problem solving, negotiation and presentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office tool and digital literate
