EEA Claims Programme Lead


Zurich Insurance plc is looking for an EEA Claims Programme Lead, to lead and provide oversight and guidance for a strategic claims project involving the transfer of a complex portfolio of Commercial claims.

The candidate will need to demonstrate a resolute focus on delivering for EEA customers in a manner which supports Zurich’s strategy; ensure overall approach and project delivery adheres to the requirements outlined within Zurich’s Global Claims Policy and delivers on all governance, legal and regulatory requirements whilst monitoring and reporting to agreed key stakeholders.

Your Role


As an EEA Claims Programme Lead your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

  • Lead the project delivery and oversight of the strategic claims project ensuring governance and controls are designed and implemented in line with Zurich’s Global Claims Policy (GCP) in order to provide assurance that EEA claims handling will continue to operate efficiently and effectively for this portfolio.
  • Ensure full compliance with all Zurich’s governance requirements for the effective transfer and management of the claims portfolio (including large/complex claims), focused on ensuring the oversight of the process used to determine the actuarial valuation is in line with Zurich Group Claims Policy and the Zurich’s Probable Ultimate Cost reserving philosophy.
  • Develop and communicates the relevant requirements for governance and oversight of the portfolio including specification of all management information requirements during and post transfer of the reserves.
  • Promptly resolve referrals, escalations and / or queries from a governance perspective to ensure seamless delivery and ongoing provision of a focussed claims service.
  • Efficiently manage complex queries concerning transfer of the claims portfolio, providing guidance to the project and business teams ensuring there is an appropriate record to ensure transparency of activity and audit trail.
  • Ensure full collaboration between cross border teams, resolving any disputes and/or where appropriate escalating in line with the agreed procedures to the relevant stakeholders or governance forums.
  • Determine exposure and financial impact of decisions on both customer and Zurich, taking into account programme structure and ensures reserves are correctly assessed.
  • Reports on the project delivery and all relevant matters pertaining to the claims portfolio transfer including meeting all legal and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintains and ensures the portfolio transfer meets the Business Unit’s claims governance strategic framework.
  • Conduct core analyses based on research and modelling to understand and quantify the risks associated with proposed policies, regulatory change or other external factors (e.g. environmental, political, economic) for this transfer.

Your Skills and Experience


As an EEA  Claims Programme Lead your skills and qualifications will include:



Bachelors degree (or equivalent) and Expert Experience

10 years + relevant experience


Insurance qualification or other relevant post graduate qualification preferred



  • Experience managing large and complex claims projects across multiple lines of business.
  • Experience working internationally would be an advantage.
  • Possesses a high and extensive level of legal analysis and knowledge of product and industry to include liability and coverage Highly numerate and analytical thinker
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills
  • Ability to resolve conflict and complaints
  • Pro-active and innovative approach
  • Astuteness and commercially aware
  • Highly discrete with confidential information
  • Able to present information and arguments in a clear and compelling way
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving and decision-making skills


Additional Information


Primary work location Ballsbridge or Wexford based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.


Travel and Working from Home

  • Travel – none anticipated but max 10 – 20%
  • Working from Home 50 - 100% for 2022.
