Job Summary

Zurich Insurance Company Ltd is looking to hire Head of Procurement for Ireland.

This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the Country COO, accountable for designing and implementing the procurement strategy for the Irish business unit. The successful candidate will require strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills and will work closely with senior leaders locally and the Group sourcing and category management leadership team.

Execute procurement strategy at a local country level and deliver high quality procurement services to Ireland BU’s either through internal resources or via a Business Process Outsourcing partner.

This role may be available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.

Your Role

Your responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

Manage customer relationships, take accountability for delivery of key procurement services/processes:

Source to Pay delivery with priority focus on cost management.
Procure to pay Operations.
Contracting
Oversight and delivery of Sustainability policy
Travel Operations
Risk Management

• Responsible for business stakeholder engagement and defining the procurement strategy for that area.

• Align to customer needs and own the responsibility for its execution across in scope BU’s.

• Responsible for managing the local governance model(s) and Procurement Controls Framework.

• Facilitate and ensure Business Process Outsourcing partners has access to all information and contact persons to deliver services.

• Contribute to group initiatives design by providing local business perspective to ensure feasibility also at a local level.

• Lead and execute these initiatives locally.

• Support local upskilling required to implement AI driven initiatives.

• Provide service recipients with clear and simple points of engagement into procurement processes.

• Provide people leadership to drive talent and engagement.

Additional Job Functions

• To advocate for procurement policy, mandate, and consequences and actively champion these for their local BU’s.

• Responsible for ensuring ethical relationships inc. Social Enterprise engagement, Sustainable sourcing.

Business Accountabilities

• Translate business objectives into clearly defined business case initiatives/projects.

• Support the delivery of project, programme, and change management initiatives by participation in project teams and lead the implementation of projects in this area to deliver defined sourcing/procurement objectives with allocated resources and within agreed timescales.

• Drive consistent compliance to best practice -e.g. Competitive tendering and purchase order policy and implement remedial corrective actions.

• Collaborate with colleagues in the wider Procurement function and other functions (Legal, Risk, Finance etc.) to drive ongoing improvement.

• Align with local Finance teams to ensure transparency and recognition of cost reduction initiatives.

• Evaluate the most complex customer issues and analyse key themes from a wide range of internal and external data sources to develop sources to develop bespoke technical/process solutions and support development of robust supplier account plans using this insight to enable optimal sourcing outcomes.

• Lead the implementation of system and process improvements within Procurement and contribute to the development of sourcing/procurement strategy.
• Support business process performance improvement.

• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders and vendors to ensure internal customers are satisfied with sourcing services and deals and take action to support business customers with service quality remediation.

• Develop and manage ongoing relationships with key stakeholders/customers to identify and deliver solutions that benefit both parties.

Your Skills & Experience

CIPS and/or Business degree and 5 or more years of experience in related field.

• Broad experience of working in sourcing or procurement roles and leading in a significant or complex area of expertise (e.g. across parts of the deal lifecycle or a strand of procurement operations).

• People management and leadership experience of leading teams of people

• Experience of interfacing with and influencing senior managers and business stakeholders as well as leading relationships with vendors/suppliers.

Additional Information

Primary work location is Dublin based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
