Investment Management Governance Specialist

Zurich Life Assurance is looking for a Investment Management Governance Specialist to report into the ZLAP CIO. 

Your Role


As an Investment Management Governance Specialist your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:


•    Developing investment-related processes and procedures for the Investment Front Office focusing on operational risk and governance   
•    Supporting operational infrastructure developments for our portfolio management activities
•    Supporting the oversight of key third-party service providers
•    The opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the workings of a key function in ZLAP’s business  
•    An opportunity to influence long-lasting improvements in how the investment function is governed and in the operational infrastructure underpinning it 
•    High level cross-functional interactions within ZLAP 
•    Collaboration with Group IM colleagues 


Development and Refinement of Operational Risk and Governance  
•    Develop and refine the detailed procedures, processes and controls that govern the portfolio management activities of the team
•    Manage interactions with local and Group assurance functions including in respect of the Zurich Risk Policy and Group IM Minimum Standards 
•    Undertake the work of the in-house team’s Risk Champion in respect of the front-line risk responsibility of the CIO
•    Provide external and internal auditors with high quality insights into the activities and processes of the team 
•    Be the CIO’s representative in terms of information governance  

Supporting Improved Operational Infrastructure 
•    Support the enhancement of our operational infrastructure, for example to permit the deployment of new asset classes or to better manage the complexities of our existing funds including funds of funds structures from an Investment Management perspective
•    Enhance the processes and identify the tools needed to capture more effective MI for the Front Office team and the CIO that will help to govern and oversee the function of the team according to best practices and regulatory expectations 


Supporting the oversight of third-party service providers  
•    Support the CIO and the team in regulatory-related engagements with our counterparties 
•    Support the CIO in managing the relationship with key service providers to the investment function including Bloomberg
•    Develop effective MI and processes to support the oversight of third parties

Your Skills and Experience


As an Investment Management Governance Specialist your skills and qualifications will include: 


•    The role does not require a specific knowledge of portfolio management but a keen interest in investments is important 
•    The role requires an ability to conceptualise and to communicate in a structured way
•    Finance Degree
•    Experience of governance, controlling or risk management

•    5-7 years’ experience in a similar role
