Zurich Dublin Technology Center is looking for a Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer. The role of Lead Cloud Solutions Enginner encompasses the aspects of software engineering, technical leadership and cloud enablement.  As Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of our Cloud Centre of Enablement (CCoE).  The CCoE have developed the cloud control plane (CCP), this product helps Zurich embrace security by design while enabling multiple operating models, with adequate security line of sight, monitoring capabilities and avoids building Zurich specific shared capabilities repeatedly.

 

This position includes responsibilities for providing technical leadership to the CCoE team and applications teams, setting a direction for cloud enablement and ensuring all commitments are met.  You will be working with a team of engineers and architects and will be responsible for prototyping, designing, developing and supporting the CCP as a highly scalable product. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building large, scalable Cloud products, and is a creative thinker, problem solver, teacher, learner, and a fantastic manager of people.

 


 

Your Role

 

As a Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

 

  • Designing and deploying scalable and resilient systems on the public cloud. 

•    Support the building of new and migration of existing applications to Public Cloud. 
•    Understand and design solutions for Ingress and egress of data to and from Public Cloud. 
•    Selecting the appropriate Public Cloud service based on functional and non-functional requirements. 
•    Identifying appropriate Public Cloud best practices, suited for Zurich’s business needs.  
•    Estimating Public Cloud costs and support identification of cost savings opportunities.
•    Consult internal customers design, considering scalable and resilient solutions that leverage Public Cloud services. 
•    Working as a technical leader along-side internal customer business, architecture, development and infrastructure teams. 
•    Map business needs to actual solutions, systems,  and/or services.
•    Cost/Benefit modelling with mapping to business KPIs. 
•    Help to design, develop and continuously improve systems and services 
•    Assisting with migration roadmaps across Zurich’s organizational structures 
•    Work with Product Manager and customers to produce solutions that meet business requirements 
•    Perform empirical hypothesis based experiments in conjunction with Engineering to help improve customer outcomes 
•    Stay abreast of the state of the art in relevant fields, experiment and promote internally, challenge the status quo, and encourage implementation and adoption 
•    Collaborating with our stakeholders build a CCP specific 'technology radar' to communicate which tools and frameworks in which situation. Highlighting those that are being evaluated, should be used, or are being deprecated. 
•    Work with Engineering
and Operations team to solicit input on CCP requirements. 
•    Participate in security incident response and investigation as/if needed 
•    Create and foster a culture of teamwork between the CCoE, IITSS and the Architecture teams, establishing practical team strategies to deliver outcomes aligned with the product and customer requirements. 
•    CCoE Design Leads, contribute, review and either approve or decline the ASD.

 

Your Skills and Experience

 

As a Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer your skills and qualifications will include:


•    5+ years hands-on development experience including relevant experience developing Cloud based software products and solutions for deployments in public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
•    Expertise on AWS Cloud technologies. Designing solutions using one or more AWS features
•    Experience on AWS Security: Compliance, Cloud Security Architecture, third-party security tools/platforms
•    Proficient in the use of configuration management tools e.g. Cloud formation, Ansible, Terraform, Powershell
•    Knowledgeable on automated build, deployment, and CI/CD
•    Ability to lead and influence team members to forge consensus on technical discussions including architectural and design guidelines, code reviews, release process, etc.
•    Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, both orally and written
•    Very strong software engineering – design, development and testing, experience
•    Good understanding of design / architectural patterns and automation platforms
•    Experience with Agile/SCRUM development methodologies
•    Good experience on Requirement/Design/Code Review & Inspections practices
•    Good on Estimation Practices: Effort and Schedule
•    Experience in Development processes like creating technical and architectural documents and QA processes like designing test plans, functional testing, end to end scenario automation, performance and security testing

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


•    Relevant degree or diploma programme of study
•    Expert level knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform with associated certifications

Additional Information


Work location is Blackrock, Dublin. Position is Blackrock-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
