Pensions Lawyer
Job Summary
Zurich Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Pensions Lawyer. This role will provide professional and independent legal advice to Zurich’s business in Ireland, focusing mainly on Zurich’s trustee companies – Zurich Ireland Master Trust DAC and Zurich Trustee Service Ltd.
This role may be available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities
As a Lawyer your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:
- Provide legal advice on pensions and trust law matters
- Provide legal advice on pensions regulatory matters.
- Provide general legal and regulatory advice on insurance and investment matters.
- Draft, negotiate, review, and advise on a variety of pensions, trust and commercial documentation
- Providing Company Secretarial support to Zurich’s trustee companies
- Ensure that advice accurately reflects applicable laws, regulations and practice.
- Mitigate legal risk and assist with commercial risk mitigation and regulatory compliance.

Internal:
- Extended Legal Team in Ireland
- The Directors of Zurich’s trustee companies
- Relevant business contacts and senior management
- “Service provider” relationship with business contacts that call on advice
External:
- External lawyers
- Zurich Group
Job Qualifications
As a Pensions Lawyer your skills and qualifications will include:
- Relevant degree - Legal/Business
- Qualified Lawyer – Ideal candidate will have 4-6 years post qualification experience in commercial or financial services
- Experience of pensions financial services practice/insurance from an Irish legal and regulatory perspective
Technical Competencies
- Practical understanding of financial services and pensions trusts is an advantage
- Strong drafting skills
- Strong ability to research legislation
Non Technical Competencies
- Communication, influencing and negotiation skills with ability to adapt style to suit audience.
- Ability to work within a team environment
- Ability to take initiative in fast moving environment
- Customer centric
- Strong problem solving ability and organisational skills.
Additional Information
Primary work location is Blackrock based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
This is a hybrid position which requires 2-3 days in the office per week.
