Technical Services Manager
About the role
As the Technical Services Manager, you will act as a trusted point of contact for complex pensions queries, helping brokers, advisers and internal staff navigate legislation, regulatory change and Zurich’s pensions propositions. You will work closely with colleagues across Technical Services, Product Distribution, Operations and Compliance to ensure Zurich’s pensions solutions remain compliant, competitive and easy to understand for our customers and intermediaries.
Job Summary
Zurich Life Assurance plc is looking to appoint a Technical Services Manager to join our Technical Services Team in Dublin. This is a key advisory role, providing expert technical support to our broker partners, distribution teams and wider business, at a time of significant change and growth in the Irish pensions landscape. The successful candidate will be a people manager.
This role may be available part-time or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren’t available full-time. Please talk to us at interview about the flexibility you may need.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality technical pensions support to Financial Brokers and Advisors on Zurich’s pensions products, including PRSAs and Personal Pensions, the Zurich Master Trust, Group Pensions Schemes, Personal Retirement Bonds as well as post-retirement products such as Approved Retirement Funds, Vested-PRSAs and Annuitity.
- Interpret and explain pensions legislation, Revenue practice and regulatory developments (including IORP II, auto‑enrolment and related reforms) in a clear, practical way for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the development and enhancement of Zurich’s pensions propositions, bringing technical insight to product design, governance and customer outcomes.
- Contribute to the preparation and delivery of technical content, including ‘TechTalks’, adviser updates, technical guides and materials for the Technical Services Hub and the Broker Centre.
- Assist with queries relating to transfers, QROPS, Pension Adjustment Orders and trusteeship, working closely with colleagues in Technical Services, Zurich Master Trustee Services and Legal where required.
- Build strong relationships with brokers, key accounts and internal teams, representing the Technical Services Team at meetings, workshops and training sessions (in person and on-line).
- Ensure all activity is conducted in line with Zurich policies, pensions law and regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of governance, accuracy and customer focus.
- Coherently and effectively present to both external and internal audiences are key topics, including Conferences, Webinars, and in person meetings.
Your skills and experience
- Strong experience in the Irish pensions or wider financial services sector, ideally in a technical, advisory, product or compliance‑focused role.
- In‑depth knowledge of Irish pensions products and legislation (for example PRSAs, Master Trusts, ARFs and the evolving auto‑enrolment framework), with the ability to interpret and apply new regulatory developments.
- Professional pensions or financial planning qualifications such as AIIPM, QFA, RPA, CFP or relevant pensions qualification (or progress towards same).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical information into clear and solution-based guidance.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured approach to problem solving, with the ability to manage multiple queries and projects simultaneously.
- A collaborative approach and strong relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to engage with brokers, senior internal stakeholders and external bodies as required.
Additional Information
Primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
