Zurich Life Ireland (ZLAP) is looking for a .NET Software developer to work in the Calculation Systems team within the IT Department. This is an excellent opportunity for a .NET developer to join a dynamic, highly skilled, experienced team, improve their development skills and to gain extensive project delivery experience.
The Calculation Systems team comprises of a mixture of software developers, actuarial and analyst resources, and works closely with other IT teams, Business colleagues and external support partners. The team is responsible for the design, development, test and deployment of a range of Quotation and Disclosure systems.

 

Your Role

 

This is a permanent position for a .NET Software Developer with at least 3 years’ experience to design, build and support the C# suite of calculation applications and services within the wider integrated IT landscape.

 

Your Main Responsibilities

  • Work across a number of technologies in the Microsoft stack, with a particular focus on design, build, unit test, test support and deployment of a C# calculation engine and associated REST APIs.
  • Complete application design, code, unit test and integration test tasks to industry development standards.
  • Collaborate closely with experienced .NET developers, API and front-end developers, technical architects, project managers, actuaries, business analysts, testers and business teams as part of project delivery teams to drive out the best technical approach to meet the specified business requirements.
  • Debug and troubleshoot code to investigate and remediate defects and production issues in a complex technical environment.
  • Provide production support and maintenance of legacy applications as and when required.
  • Evaluate and stay up to date with key themes and advances in technology and be an advocate for promoting best practices and continuous improvements in software development within the team.

As a .Net Software Developer your main responsibilities will include, but not necessarily be limited to, the following:

 

Technical Skills

 

Essential


• At least 3 years development experience using Microsoft .NET (ASP.NET,.NETCore)
• Strong experience in C#
• RDBMS and SQL experience

 

Desirable

 

• Oracle and Entity Framework experience

• IIS

• Experience of source control applications such as GIT

• JSON, XML

• VB.NET

• Postman

• Experience of algorithms and design patterns

• Familiarity with Atlassian tools such as Confluence and Jira

• Previous experience in life assurance/financial industry an advantage

 Educational Requirements


• BSc. / MSc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent
• Fluent written and oral English

 

 

Additional Information

 

Primary work location is Blackrock, Dublin Position is Dublin-based but occasional travel may be required to other Zurich locations.
