Trainee Underwriter
Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis
Location: Glasgow, Hybrid
Salary: £24,400 to £27,500 plus excellent benefits and career progression.

The opportunity
We’re looking for a motivated and curious Trainee Underwriter to join our team, supporting underwriting activity across Property, Casualty or Motor lines of business. This is a fantastic development opportunity for someone at the early stages of their career who is eager to learn, develop technical skills and grow within a professional underwriting environment.
You’ll support the assessment of new business and existing accounts, helping us deliver quality insurance solutions for our customers while building relationships with brokers and colleagues. You don’t need previous underwriting experience—just strong analytical skills, great attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
Many of our employees work flexibly in a variety of different ways, including part-time, flexible hours, job share, an element of working from home or compressed hours. What you’ll be doing:

Supporting underwriting activity across Property, Casualty or Motor business lines.

Reviewing and analysing information to assist with assessing risks and determining suitable terms.

Gathering data and conducting research to support highquality underwriting decisions.

Working collaboratively with underwriters and colleagues across insurance teams.

Helping maintain strong relationships with brokers and customers.

Learning about market trends, underwriting best practice and regulatory requirements.
What you’ll bring:

An interest in developing a career in underwriting or insurance.

Strong analytical thinking skills and the ability to interpret information.

Excellent attention to detail and willingness to learn new concepts and systems.

Good communication and relationship building skills.

Ability to prioritise work and manage deadlines in a fastpaced environment.

A proactive approach, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to learning and development.

Experience within underwriting or insurance is beneficial but not essential—full training and support will be provided.
