Assistant Claims Manager / Senior Claims Officer (Technical Center / Large & Complex Claims)

Job Summary

  • Handle non-standard large, complex and litigated claims with minimal supervision
  • Build and manage internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Deliver an effective, efficient customer centric claims service in a manner which supports the Purpose, Values and Strategy of Zurich

 

Job Accountabilities:

  • Proactively and promptly handle high severity/complexity first and third-party claims taking responsibility to resolve all enquiries from both customer and external contacts to ensure delivery of a customer focused claims service
  • Develop appropriate claims case strategies to ensure that reserves are appropriately managed, investigations conducted and supply partners properly engaged to achieve best outcomes
  • Act as referral point for cases escalated by the wider claims team
  • Follow customer specific claims handling protocol and/or customer proposition service charters to ensure that we understand & fulfil the needs and expectations of our customers
  • Prepare reports and engage with reinsurers and Group claims on cases that are likely to exceed retention
  • Adhere to company policies, local regulatory and governance requirements throughout the life of the claim to ensure that we make decisions using the right standards
  • Assist Team Head in managerial tasks, reporting and projects

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or above
  • Over 5 years claims experience in Property, Casualty, Engineering claims
  • Achieved recognized industry standard (e.g. ANZIIF/ACII/FCII)
  • Large and complex claims management skills and handling coverage issues
  • Good technical knowledge of Property, Casualty, Motor, Engineering and A&H products
  • Knowledge of legal systems and interpretation of legal liability and understanding of local legislation
  • Awareness of the litigation process through all courts
  • Recognize relevance of customer proposition and how to interpret specific handling requirements
  • Knowledge of how to identify and engage with lead experts
  • Understand industry standards and protocol
  • Awareness of interdependence with other Functions (Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial)
  • Be able to articulate how to prioritize and work to deadlines
  • Good negotiation skills, both written and verbal
  • Desire to learn and be flexible to business change
  • Good command of written & spoken English and Chinese (including Mandarin)
  • Candidates with less experience will be considered for Senior Officer position
