Job Summary
- Support the team leader on portfolio performance of Financial Lines businesses
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with local and international brokers and other distributors in support of business retention and acquisition
- Assist in formulating and executing underwriting plans for Financial Lines products and service strategy for these product lines
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business within delegated authority levels
Job Accountabilities:
- Support the Head of Financial Lines on portfolio performance of the Commercial Insurance Division for Financial Lines businesses
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and other distributors in support of business retention and acquisition
- Work with customers and distributors to determine their insurance related needs and provide solutions
- Assist in formulating and executing underwriting plans for Financial Lines businesses, as well as sales and service strategy for these product lines
- Underwrite and analyze new and renewal business of Financial Lines within delegated authority levels
- Responsible for Business Development and market facing activities with key distribution partners, including International and local brokers and agency channels
- Apply the framework of Underwriting elements for new business & renewals; handling assigned accounts and works within delegated authorities
- Measure exposure and analyze risk
- Determine the technical price according to agreed pricing process
- Quote and set coverage
- Negotiate terms & conditions
- Contribute to development and execution of Zurich’s strategy; build relationships in support of customer/ business acquisition and retention (e.g. by handling a range of queries, providing advice to assist with the development of an account; Implementing agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, thereby maintaining underwriting discipline
- Timely update and proactively manage and improve the pipeline
- Contribute ideas and work for the development of new or enhanced propositions based on technical, customer and distributor insights
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or typically hold or working towards relevant professional qualification such as ACII
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of underwriting experience in domestic or international underwriting with strong preference for Financial Lines products, including D&O, Crime, PI and Cyber, etc.
- Practical market-facing underwriting experience
- Commercial and practical experience with data visualization, dashboard, and report development will be an advantage
- Added preference for skills in structuring multinational insurance business in a compliant manner
- Knowledge of major legal & regulatory issues in Financial Lines in Hong Kong and to some extent in overseas markets are added advantage
- Experience in servicing multinational/ complex accounts with large/ key brokers
- Fluency in English and Cantonese; Mandarin-speaking an added advantage
- Negotiation, influencing and selling skills
- Ability to develop relationships with key business partners
- Pipeline management and new business development
- Ability to build trust-based business relationships with customers and producers.
- Open mind to try new ways and alternative approaches of doing things
- Self-starter, proactive, results and execution oriented
