Investment Manager APAC

Job Accountabilities

  • Report to APAC CIO and be responsible for progressing a number of key strategic initiatives and shaping the strategic direction & priorities across the APAC region for Zurich Group Investment Management
  • Lead the deployment of the 1 to 3-year investment income planning process, liaise closely with the Corporate Centre team in respect of process/timelines and in-turn
  • Guide and oversee key financial objectives, manage investment risk and implement centrally driven investment strategies in country specific balance sheets, in collaboration with local CIOs and investment management team
  • Develop high quality and cost-effective Unit-linked investment strategies covering servicing needs, asset manager selection, fund selection, transaction platform and compliance with rules and regulations
  • Assess the capacity for private debt and impact investment in APAC countries and coordinate with Head of Private Debt to develop/implement a solution for APAC
  • Research ESG investment opportunities in Asia together with local CIOs and develop plans for implementing sustainable investment strategy
  • Ensure swift implementation of centrally driven tactical transactions; help formulate and implement a bottom-up Strategic Asset Allocation for the local investment units
  • Review and monitor performance of portfolios and mandates with asset managers, and define remedial actions where required
  • Review NII plan numbers for APAC region and provide insights to APAC CIO on trend, changes vs. historical actual and delta vs. prior planning exercise
  • Support M&A due diligence process to expand Zurich’s presence in APAC and develop post-acquisition integration plan according to Investment Management Target Operating Model
  • Travel to APAC countries is required for providing on-the-ground support to local CIOs on initiative implementation

 

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related disciplines with significant coursework in business or investment subjects
  • Post-graduate degree in Finance, Economics or an MBA will be an advantage
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with regional exposure in insurance industry, institutional asset management, investment accounting, financial planning, actuarial or relevant areas
  • Familiar with investments, capital markets and investment structures, asset classes and derivatives
  • Sound knowledge of insurance products and liability structure, ALM methods and analytics, insurance investment regulations and RBC frameworks
  • Good knowledge of IFRS accounting principles for investment and derivatives Knowledge of ESG and sustainable investing is preferable
  • Good command of both written and spoken English
