Manager, Affluent Market Operations
As the Manager, Affluent Market Operations, you will be the core architect responsible for the end-to-end operational design, system logic formulation, and workflow mapping for our upcoming affluent market segment. This role is a unique hybrid of operational setup and day-to-day management. You will design and implement the workflows required to support premium financing, complex trust ownership structures, and seamless bank/broker operational interfaces, ensuring full compliance with local regulatory guidelines before product launch.
Job Accountabilities
1. End-to-End Operational Architecture & Workflow Setup
- Process Engineering: Blueprint, document, and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the entire lifecycle of high-value policies, from initial intake and vetting to system issuance and ongoing servicing
- System & UAT Leadership: Partner closely with IT and Business Analyst teams to define User Requirement Specifications (URS) for policy admin systems, ensuring the platform can accurately track complex premium ledgering, financing indicators, and third-party data fields. Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Premium Financing Framework: Design the operational mechanics for Collateral Assignment and Assignment Release protocols. Create tracking systems for financed policy structures, direct bank wire reconciliations, and interest/loan ledgering adjustments
2. Trust Structures & Complex Ownership Administration
- Onboarding Controls: Establish clear verification and operational protocols for policies owned by Family Trusts, Personal Trusts, and Offshore Holding Companies
- Documentation Standards: Define the mandatory compliance and legal documentation checklist required to validate trust structures, identifying ultimate beneficial owners (UBOs) during the policy admin setup phase
- Lifecycle Servicing: Map out unique servicing workflows for trust-owned policies, ensuring that eventual claims, surrenders, or policy changes are executed strictly in accordance with trust deeds and designated corporate signatories
3. Bank Partner & Third-Party Distribution Management
- Bancassurance/Broker Integration: Function as the primary operational liaison to establish data exchange protocols, premium clearing systems, and communication matrices with incoming private banks, retail banks, and specialized brokers
- SLA Formulation: Draft and align operational Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with external banking operations teams regarding case turn-around times (TAT), document delivery pipelines, and escalation paths
- Partner Support: Provide operational advisory to distribution partners regarding complex case structuring, premium funding methods, and missing documentation rules
4. Risk Management, Controls & Regulatory Governance
- Regulatory Alignment: Build robust, auditable post-sales control procedures that comply strictly with the Hong Kong Insurance Authority & HKMA guidelines
- AML/KYC Framework: Collaborate with the Compliance department to imbed enhanced Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Source of Wealth (SoW) validation, and anti-money laundering controls directly into the affluent policy servicing workflow
Job Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, Law, or a related discipline
- Professional Qualifications: Professional insurance designations such as FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute), ALMI, ACS, or ANZIIF are highly preferred. Holding IIQE Papers 1, 3, and 5 is a strong advantage
- Experience:
- Minimum of 7–9 years of experience within Life Insurance Policy Administration, Policy Servicing, or Insurance Operations.
- Proven, hands-on experience handling Premium Financing operations and Collateral Assignment mechanics within the Hong Kong market
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and validating Trust structures, corporate ownership legal documents for high-value contracts
- Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Prior experience in a "setup" or "project migration" phase and executing UAT for life core systems—is highly valued
- Deep understanding of participating product mechanics (reversionary/terminal bonuses, cash dividends) and how they interact with bank assignment structures
- Languages: Fluency in written and spoken English and Cantonese is mandatory. Professional proficiency in Mandarin is highly beneficial due to Mainland Chinese affluent client cross-border interactions
