Strategic Relationship Leader

Zurich North America is currently looking for a Strategic Relationship Leader to serve our Specialty Business Unit. The preference is for the position to be in any of the following Zurich offices on a hybrid basis:  Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Irvine, Phoenix, Seattle. 

 

The Strategic Relationship Leader engages with strategic and prospective high‑value customers to drive retention, sales, and long‑term profitable growth. The role identifies new opportunities, expands solution adoption, and coordinates internal product and service delivery to ensure seamless client experience. It also leverages global resources to capitalize on worldwide growth opportunities.

 
Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Drive long‑term profitable growth across strategic and prospective high‑value customer relationships.
  • Engage with senior leaders and stakeholders within customer organizations to build trusted, value‑focused relationships and guide executive alignment.
  • Identify sales and global growth opportunities, leveraging worldwide resources to expand solution adoption and revenue.
  • Assess customer strengths, challenges, and potential growth returns to inform strategic engagement priorities.
  • Develop joint value propositions and solution frameworks that deepen partnerships and support customer outcomes.
  • Coordinate internal product and service teams to ensure clean, efficient, and high‑quality delivery at the client level.
  • Travel as required to support customer engagement and business growth.

 

Basic Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 8 or more years of experience in the Relationship Management area
    OR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Relationship Management areas
    OR
  • ***Only current employees at reward level 7 and above may apply with a High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience***   
    AND
  • 6 or more years management or senior level experience in product/ service/ manufacturing/ financial/ legal
  • Experience working at global, strategic, and operational levels
  • Experience leveraging global resources to capitalize on them
  • Experience managing profitable, external strategic relationships

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of commercial insurance experience, including at least 5 years focused on Energy and/or Construction sectors.
  • Underwriting or brokerage experience in Construction and Energy, with strong knowledge of underwriting and insurance needs for General Contractors, Subcontractors, and Construction Owners (e.g., technology companies, universities, healthcare organizations).
  • Deep expertise in downstream, midstream, and upstream Energy risks, including mining, oil & gas, renewable energy, power generation, and utilities.
  • Loss Sensitive underwriting knowledge for casualty lines, with proficiency across property, builders risk, financial lines, accident, life & health, and surety.
  • Existing relationships with brokers and agents in the Energy and Marine markets.
  • Advanced knowledge of Salesforce and underwriting platforms such as Guidewire, PolicyCenter, Power BI, and the ability to self-serve reporting needs while partnering with underwriting and data science teams to holistically represent the customer relationship.
  • Strong capabilities in running executive‑level meetings and stewardship conversations that integrate Underwriting, Claims, Risk Engineering, and senior leadership for large accounts.
  • Deep customer and relationship management experience with strong strategic planning and execution capabilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing key customers and driving profitable business performance.
  • Ability to engage and influence C‑suite leaders with strong negotiation skills and thought leadership.
  • Knowledge of risk assessments and the ability to deliver clear, actionable risk insights.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, time‑management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management technologies.

 

Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. If your expectations are above the listed range, we still encourage you to apply—your unique background matters to us. The pay range shown is a national average and may vary by location. The proposed Salary range for this position is $152,400.00 - $249,500.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 25%.
