Compliance Assistant Manager


Job Summary

The role holder is responsible for supporting the implementation and delivery of the Compliance Assurance strategy and framework for their organization unit along the requirements of the Zurich Compliance Program and the Group Legal & Compliance Strategy. Within this role, the holder works with all lines of business. The role holder will deliver reporting material on Assurance subjects as directed by Team Lead as well as provide support on the communication as directed.

Job Qualifications

• Bachelors Degree in Law and 5 or more years of experience in the Claims or Marketing or Underwriting area

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Claims or Marketing or Underwriting area

• Experience with market conduct examination process and procedures
• Knowledge of national/local compliance laws and regulations

• Insurance industry experience
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment

Job Accountabilities - Key Accountabilities

Functional Management

• Provide assistance in implementing and executing on the organizational unit’s Assurance obligations under the Zurich Compliance Program.
• Assist the Assurance team in supporting business management in the identification and management of Compliance Risks.

Business Set-up/Governance

• Prepare adequate reporting materials for governance committees and business management as directed by the Team Lead.
• Build relationships with other Assurance Providers across the three lines of defense.
• Contribute to the development of the cooperation and relationship building with other Assurance Providers to deliver truly integrated assurance.

Compliance Assurance

• Provide relevant input to the Compliance Risk assessment.
• Contribute to the prioritization and development of a risk based compliance (monitoring) plan.
• Execute monitoring activities of low and moderate complexity and support delivery of more complex monitoring activities.
• Deliver report on monitoring activities of low and moderate complexity and assist in producing reports for more complex monitoring activities.
• Assist in preparing adequate reporting regarding progress against monitoring plan, significant results, and bring to the attention of team lead escalation of overdue issues.
• Suggest plan changes when perceived to be necessary.
• Coordinate with internal and external assurance provider and 3rd party suppliers where relevant.
• Make recommendations to further increase the effectiveness of the assurance section of the Zurich Compliance Program applying to the organizational unit.


• Support reporting to management and other appropriate governance bodies in relation to monitoring the results.

Project Management

• Contribute to projects as instructed by Team Lead.

Business Accountabilities

Functional Management

• Maintain work along the requirements of the Zurich Compliance Program to provide adequate assurance that Compliance Risks are identified and adequately managed.
• Contribute support and guidance on assurance subjects both within and outside the Compliance function to achieve consistent monitoring results.

Business Set-up/Governance

• Assists the delivery of risk based assurance to business management and within Compliance function.
• Work with other assurance providers as directed by Team Lead or Local Compliance Officer to minimize overlaps and inefficiencies in providing assurance.

Stakeholder Management

• Recognize and collaborate with internal stakeholders to further the comprehension of Compliance Assurance Activities.
• Work with relevant stakeholders on their understanding and support of the Compliance Assurance activities and prioritization.

Compliance Assurance

• Provide relevant input into the annual compliance risk assessment to satisfy minimum internal and external regulatory requirements.
• Contribute input to the compliance planning process to achieve adequate prioritization and address regulatory requirements, business concerns and compliance risk exposure.
• Conduct simple monitoring activities and contribute to more complex monitoring activities to deliver the monitoring plan.
• Contribute to the creation of action plans to address identified findings under direction of the Team lead and in cooperation with the business.
• Support Team lead in communicating relevant results to business.
• Work with other assurance providers to coordinate assurance activities to minimize overlaps and inefficiencies.


• Support with Team lead to provide adequate compliance assurance reporting to business management.

Project Management

• Supporting activity and monitoring project at appropriate times.
• Provide input from an assurance perspective.
