Job Summary

The Retail Property Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and underwriting insurance risks related to retail properties such as shopping malls, standalone stores, supermarkets, and mixed-use retail developments. This role assesses property exposures, determines appropriate coverage, pricing, and terms, and ensures underwriting decisions align with company guidelines, risk appetite, and regulatory standards.

Job Qualifications

Required:

  • Analyze submissions for retail property risks, including location, construction, occupancy, loss history, and valuationAssess exposure to perils such as fire, flood, earthquake, theft, and business interruption
  • Determine appropriate coverage limits, deductibles, pricing, and policy terms
  • Review property surveys, inspection reports, engineering reports, and financial data

    Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Insurance, Engineering, or a related field - Preferable from insurance background
  • Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience in property insurance, preferably retail or commercial property
  • Strong understanding of property insurance principles and retail risk exposures
  • Solid analytical and decision-making skills
