Job purpose:

 

 

We are seeking a FAR Expert for the new Zurich Branch in Poland. The person will play a central role in establishing accounting environment and work closely with finance teams to meet accounting and reporting needs. As the FAR Expert, he/she will lead daily accounting tasks and ensure month-end financial and tax reports align with business objectives and comply with IFRS and Polish GAAP.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 

 

  • Be actively involved in setting up the accounting and tax environment of the new Branch, including assistance in preparation of the Accounting Policy and other procedures required for finance,
  • Support the Finance Manager, CFO and local Finance Team in various financial topics,
  • Provide Group and external reporting according to IFRS and Polish GAAP (Ustawa o Rachunkowości),
  • Knowledge and understanding of IFRS and Polish GAAP, including special accounting regulations for insurers, ability to explain the GAAP-to-GAAP differences,
  • Understand Tax calculations and perform Tax walkthrough analysis as per the Polish Tax requirements,
  • Review various closing activities e.g. maintenance of interfaces to Sub ledger, FX revaluation, regrouping,
  • Be actively involved in the implementation of small to medium project efforts and supporting the accounting operation,
  • Document and update process changes to reflect current processes and contributing to continuous improvement,
  • Understand ICFR Zurich framework, execute controls and advise on those to the less experienced Team Members,
  • Act as the technical & subject matter expert in general accounting principles, by conducting Account Reconciliation reviews and initiating changes to ensure the quality of the balance and financial records,
  • Coordination between Cracow, Warsaw and Austrian Teams on operational day-to-day and ad hoc activities.

Candidate’s profile:

 

 

  • Master’s Degree and 6 or more years of experience in Accounting or Finance,
  • Knowledge and experience with IFRS and Polish GAAP (Ustawa o Rachunkowości),
  • Good knowledge of Polish tax background (CIT and VAT),
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of accounting principles, including special accounting regulations for insurers
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to summarize and present the results,
  • Microsoft Office experience – intermediate to advanced (power tool is a plus),
  • English language skills – spoken and written at fluent level,
  • German language skills is a plus.
