Assistant Manager, Advisory Compliance

Role Overview:


Promotes an ethics-based culture, delivering practical solutions, guidance and training, identifies and manages less moderately complex Compliance Risks implementing policies, processes and controls related to the Compliance Risk Universe, including Shariah Compliance. Interacts with supervisory bodies whenever required.

 

Key Accountabilities 

 

  • Ensure the compliance strategy is aligned with the business strategy, regulatory requirements, and emerging industry trends.
  • Assess new laws, regulations and trends, their applicability, and implementation to Zurich’s operations in the jurisdiction, in alignment with Legal, to ensure all Compliance Risks are appropriately identified, evaluated and managed.
  • Perform compliance review and assessment for BAU activities including (but not limited to) product development, assurance activities, projects and initiatives, regulatory requests, management of non-compliance incident, and regulatory change assessment.
  • Support the implementation of financial crime compliance controls, including AML/CFT risk assessments, transaction monitoring, policy execution and advisory support to business units to maintain regulatory compliance and mitigate financial crime risks.
  • Prepare Management Information and compliance reports for the local management committee, the Shariah Committee, Audit Committee, Board and Regional/Group Compliance.
  • Promote an ethics-based and compliance-driven culture through training, communications, and awareness activities, and provide relevant metrics to management.
  • Support the Compliance team in planning, executing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects until implementation.
  • Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support departmental objectives and on-going regulatory compliance.

 

Requirements

 

  • A solid understanding of Insurance and/or Takaful laws and regulations, best practices in compliance, and knowledge of financial products and systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree holder with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Possession of relevant compliance certifications will be an added advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a self-motivated attitude.
  • Proactive, demonstrating initiative and continuously seeking areas for improvement.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and the local language.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
