Chief Agency Officer

Position Overview:

The Chief Agency Officer (CAO) will spearhead the agency’s strategic direction, operational excellence, and performance outcomes. As a member of the senior leadership team, the CAO is entrusted with shaping and executing long-term strategies that drive business growth and ensure fulfillment of Service Level Agreements (SLA's) for direct customers. The CAO is accountable for achieving direct gross written premium (GWP) targets, upholding service excellence standards, and orchestrating the agency’s sales and operational initiatives at the highest level.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the design and execution of new business acquisition and retention strategies to consistently achieve direct gross written premium targets.
  • Take full accountability for the attainment of GWP targets, encompassing both new business generation and retention, with a focus on direct customer channels.
  • Formulate and implement the agency’s strategic vision, ensuring seamless integration with the organization’s overarching mission and objectives.
  • Lead, inspire, and develop the agency’s leadership team—fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional growth at the executive level.
  • Oversee agency operations with a focus on maximizing efficiency, maintaining superior quality standards, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Monitor agency performance through executive-level analysis of key metrics and financial indicators, proactively identifying opportunities for strategic improvement and sustainable growth.
  • Establish and nurture high-value relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders—enhancing the agency’s reputation and expanding its market influence through executive engagement.
  • Ensure the agency remains at the forefront of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory developments—providing visionary leadership and guidance.
  • Provide executive oversight of multi-channel distribution, serving as steward of both agency and direct distribution platforms to drive optimal corporate performance.
  • Offer strategic leadership for five regional General Marketing departments (Central, East Coast, East, North, South), with direct responsibility for regional sales execution, target-setting, and performance management.
  • Facilitate cross-channel coordination at the executive level, promoting synergy and growth across all distribution channels.
  • Collaborate closely with the Chief Distribution Officer to ensure alignment and integration of channel strategies in support of the organization’s strategic goals.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive executive leadership experience within an agency or equivalent sector.
  • Proven executive track record in strategic planning, business development, and operational management.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated executive influence.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities at the senior management level.
  • Extensive experience in managing budgets, financial performance, and leading transformational organizational change.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and drive high-performing teams toward ambitious organizational objectives.
