Compliance Manager, Assurance
Role Overview:
Develops, executes and maintains a Compliance Assurance strategy and framework proportionate to assigned organizational unit and along the requirements of the Zurich Compliance Program and the Group Compliance Strategy. Works with all lines of business on complex compliance policies and regulations. Partners with the Team Lead or the Local Compliance Officer (LCO) on maintaining reporting processes on Assurance Subjects to governance bodies and management, as well as supporting the communication with regulatory bodies as appropriate. Participates in projects or leads work streams or sub-projects involving the Assurance team.
Key Responsibilities :
- Assist the Team Lead or Local Compliance Officer (LCO) in developing, implementing, and maintaining the organizational unit’s assurance obligations under the Zurich Compliance Program. Collaborate with business management to identify and manage compliance risks. This involves planning assurance activities, monitoring action items until closure, following group guidelines in carrying out assurance functions, reporting promptly and accurately, and maintaining 100% data quality with minimal errors.
- Execute assigned assurance activities from the risk-based assurance plan, including leading complex reviews. Work with the Team Lead and LCO to prioritize activities and develop the plan. Make recommendations to further increase the effectiveness and simplification of the assurance processes.
- Assess complex business processes and controls using the compliance assurance approach. Develop action plans to address findings and coordinate with assurance providers as needed.
- Collaborates in the Compliance Risk Assessment process providing recommendation from an assurance perspective. Report or prepare adequate reporting regarding progress against allocated assurance activities, significant results, as well as escalation of overdue issues to Team Lead and LCO for governance committees and business management.
- Collaborate with other assurance providers (e.g., Group Audit, Risk Management) to ensure integrated assurance, minimize overlaps, and improve efficiency across the three lines of defense.
- Organize and deliver functional projects within the defined scope and time frame. Responsible for completing and delivering on required level of quality work streams or sub-projects which vary in scope. May lead and will participate in special projects, initiatives as designated.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to support departmental objectives and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or other relevant degree, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in compliance, audit, or risk management.
- Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) from IIA, or equivalent, will be considered an advantage.
- A solid understanding of Insurance and Takaful laws and regulations, best practices in compliance, and knowledge of financial products and systems.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, risk-based assurance, and governance processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, a self-motivated attitude, demonstrating initiative and continuously seeking areas for improvement.
- Strong verbal, written and presentation skills.
