Data Governance Specialist
Job Overview
We are looking for a savvy Data Governance & Data Management Specialist to support the development, implementation, and maintenance of data governance and data management practices across the organization. This role is ideal for candidate who is interested in data quality, metadata, data policies, and regulatory compliance within the insurance industry.
The successful candidate will work closely with business, risk, compliance, and regional project teams to help ensure data is accurate, secure, well-defined, and fit for purpose across different departments within the organization.
Responsibilities for Data Governance & Data Management Specialist
- Lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, standards, and policies across the organization.
- Establish and oversee data quality, security, privacy, and lifecycle management initiatives.
- Collaborate with business units and technical teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and available when needed.
- Champion data stewardship practices and provide guidance to stakeholders on compliance with relevant regulations
- Monitor and report on data governance metrics, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Facilitate education and awareness programs to strengthen Zurich’s data-driven culture.
- Support strategic projects by advising on data-related risks, controls, and architecture.
- Stay ahead of industry’s best practices and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate and liaise with Zurich Group or Regional on data governance related initiatives
Qualifications for Data Governance & Data Management Specialist
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related functions within a complex business environment.
- Strong understanding of data privacy, protection, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiar with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and modern data management tools.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive change and foster a data-driven mindset.
