Digital IT Architect, APAC

The Opportunity:

The Digital IT Architect has responsibility for developing solutions and driving digital transformation agenda in conjunction with the business, global stakeholders and regional IT organizations. Be part of a team building a new end-to-end Zurich Edge digital insurance platform to enable new distribution models. Insurance offerings on this platform will be specifically designed for high levels of automation and straight through processing across the full insurance value chain.

Your tasks & key responsibilities:

• Develop a strong understanding of the digital insurance business and apply to architecture & design artifacts.
• Drive workshops on solution options with IT and & business subject matter experts.
• Investigate new technologies, platforms and design patters as applicable to business focus areas.
• Engage with business stakeholders on digital initiatives and proposed solution architectures.
• Creation of application technical design documents to guide development / delivery.
• Address technical queries from development teams.
• Coach development teams in best practices.
• Ensure development is in line with architectural design.
• Take end to end responsibility for technology solution from design through to delivery. 
• Provide technical leadership to delivery teams – specifically senior developers and business analysts. 
• Make pragmatic and delivery focused technical decisions.
   

Your skills and experience:

• 15+ years in IT across multiple IT disciplines.
• Prior experience in Applications Architecture in Insurance / financial services industry.
• Broad experience with recent technologies and applications integration paradigms.
• Recent project experience with UI/UX technologies, APIs and systems integration.
• Development experience in Java & JavaScript preferred.
• Recent experience in Agile delivery / DevOps.
• Sound understanding of Architecture methodologies and standards.
• In depth knowledge of recent UI/UX technologies (eg ReactJS), API design (REST/JSON) and applications integration technologies.
• Knowledge of data modelling / database design.
• Sound experience with Cloud technologies – especially AWS – Containers, Lambda, RDS etc.
• Sound understanding of IT project delivery and agile / DevOps methodologies.
• Passion for new and emerging technologies. Ability to investigate these in depth.
• Ability to understand business requirements in detail.
• Ability to work with both off-the-shelf platforms and bespoke development.
• Strong modelling & UML skills.
• Excellent communication & documentation skills.
• Ability to lead by influence.
• Ability to work across diverse Asian cultures.
