At Zurich, we believe in optimism, collaboration, and challenging the status quo. We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Head of Communications to lead our communications strategy (internal and external) and elevate our brand narrative across all markets.

 

In this role you will reporting to the CEO and work closely with colleagues within the global Zurich family which will bring you a diverse and dynamic environment for further growth and development.

 

 

Your Role

 

As our Head of Communications, you will:

  • Define and execute Zurich Portugal’s communications strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand positioning.
  • Lead internal and external communications, including media relations and executive communications.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key external stakeholders (media, industry bodies, regulators, etc.) as well as co-lead public affairs initiatives and represent Zurich in industry forums and public discussions.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to shape messaging that reflects Zurich’s purpose and values, speechwriting, talking points, interviews, and key presentations for internal and external engagements, conferences, panel debates as well as opinion articles.
  • Oversee and create content across multiple internal and external communication channels (press releases, speeches, social media, thought leadership).
  • Manage and mentor a high-performing communications and events team as well as close collaboration across all functions of the organisation.
  • Monitor communication effectiveness and continuously optimize using KPIs and analytics based on insights and stakeholder feedback.
  • Act as a part of a global Communications team of Zurich, ensure all communications in Portugal align with Zurich Insurance Group standards, while actively supporting global projects, thought leadership and strategic initiatives.

 

 

Your Profile

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) and track record in corporate communications and press management, preferably in financial services or insurance.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution capabilities.
  • Strong communication skills, storytelling skills and a clear team player – facilitates collaboration and communication between the areas.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Portuguese.
  • Positive, problem-solver and solution-oriented.
  • Pro-active, engaging, and creative to lead in a growth strategy.
  • Always open to develop and learn within diverse areas.
  • Agile and flexible.
