Senior Captive Underwriter
Working hours: This role is available on a part-time, job-share or full-time basis.
Location: London – Hybrid working with a minimum 3 days in the office

What will you be doing?
As a Senior Captive Underwriter, your role will consist of the below:
- Financial Analysis at counterparty Credit Risk level.
- Risk and exposure assessment of credit risk embedded in underwriting transactions.
- Work within Zurich guidelines and risk policy ensuring compliance with all guidance.
- Design, negotiation, and implementation of Captive fronting programmes, including pricing of fees, execution of collateral and reinsurance documentation.
- Work with local Customer and Broker distribution teams to ensure effective communication of Zurich messages and ongoing sales performance.
- Develop and propose action plans for improvement in dealing with complex customer cases in response to business partner and customer feedback to enable the organization to meet their needs.
- Provide expert advice within specialised area to key stakeholders/customers in order to identify and deliver solutions that benefit the organization and their customers.
- Maintenance of the credit risk database and management of your portfolio of risk.
- Use insights from customers, distributors and own technical expertise to develop new or enhanced propositions that meet customer needs.
- Drive business development with distributors by identifying opportunities or issues and taking the necessary actions.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a candidate with experience in at least one of the following: Captives, Finance, Underwriting, or Risk Management.
We recognise there may be candidates suitable for the role that have experience outside of the captive arena, and additional training will be provided as required.
Skills or experience in some of the following would be welcome:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or significant experience
- Finance and Accounting
- Knowledge of Global Insurance Market including Regulatory environments
- Experience of working with different Lines of Business
- Effective in working relationships through empathy, active listening, and clear communication
- Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with brokers and key clients
- An analytical approach and/or experience in a financial analytical role
- Currently working towards, or happy to obtain qualifications such as CII
