The opportunity: 

 

Are you an Underwriter looking for that next step in your career? Or perhaps an experienced Senior Underwriter looking for a new challenge? This is an exciting opportunity to join our London team as a Senior Technical Risks Underwriter, playing a key role in shaping and growing this portfolio. You’ll use your deep sector expertise in the Pulp & Paper, Light Chemical, Molten Metals and Semiconductor industry to underwrite complex risks, drive sustainable profitability, and strengthen our presence across the London and international markets.

 

In this senior role, you’ll make a real impact—providing expert guidance, influencing underwriting strategy, and supporting the development of our underwriting community. What will you be doing? 

 

  • Leading the underwriting of complex risks across diverse international territories
  • Developing and executing underwriting strategies to support profitable portfolio growth
  • Building strong relationships with brokers and clients, representing Zurich at market meetings, presentations, and industry events
  • Assessing, pricing, and negotiating new and renewal business in line with governance, appetite, and underwriting guidelines
  • Providing technical leadership, mentoring, and support to junior underwriters and colleagues
  • Collaborating with claims, risk engineering, actuarial, and other internal partners to ensure informed underwriting decisions
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and helping to embed best‑practice underwriting governance

  • Strong analytical ability, attention to detail, and sound commercial judgement

  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to challenge the status quo and contribute to continual portfolio and process improvement
